The Fall: Set of Ten #2 coming soon from Cog Sinister
Following their 2018 box set of archive live recordings, Cog Sinister are getting ready to release ‘Set of Ten #2’, a second box of Fall related live recordings, this time dating from between 1984-2014.
THE FALL – Fall Sound Archive Vol 3: 1982
Many albums get tagged with the word “seminal”, but few are more deserving of that than The Fall’s ‘Hex Enduction Hour’. Spearheading the beginning of a very prolific period for the band, ‘Hex’ is more than an album – it’s an art project. Given its subsequent influence upon on experimental underbelly of rock, punk and indie music, it’s fitting that it would eventually provide the heart of a great box set.
The third edition of Cherry Red’s Fall Sound Archives reissue series, ‘1982’ does exactly what it says on the tin. It brings together two studio albums (‘Hex Enduction Hour’ and ‘Room To Live’), various Peel Sessions and a slew of live recordings (a vastly expanded edition of ‘In A Hole’ and a harder to find live recording sourced from an Australian gig).
THE FALL: 6CD box set covering 1982 recordings to be released in October
Although Fall fans probably expected reissues of ‘Totale’s Turns (It’s Now Or Never)’, ‘Grotesque (After The Gramme)’ and ‘Slates’ to appear before the end of 2019, this October will actually see something a little further ahead making up volume three of Cherry Red’s extensive Fall Sound Archives reissue series.
THE FALL – Fall Sound Archive Vols 1 & 2: Live At The Witch Trials & Dragnet
Following Fall founder Mark E. Smith’s death in 2018, Cherry Red Records expanded and reissued the ‘50,000 Fall Fans…’ compilation, adding nineteen bonus tracks to bring it up to date, making it the most comprehensive Fall compilation ever. It was an ideal starting point for new listeners. News that there would be other Fall reissues in the future was met with keenness. The first of that reissue campaign – now dubbed “The Fall Sound” – goes right back to the beginning with expanded editions of 1978’s ‘Live At The Witch Trials’ and 1979’s ‘Dragnet’.
