2014 was a very busy year for Brooklyn-based garage rockers Greasy Hearts. At the start of the year, they turned up at fledgling lo-fi label King Pizza Records with their debut EP already recorded, which the label put out straight away. A few months later, they were back in the studio with the label’s in-house producer Seth Applebaum recording new material – the six resultant songs sharper, the performances capturing more fire than before. Gigs were played…lots of gigs; guitarist Joey Farber also played and recorded with his other band The Jeanies. Somehow, between everything else, the Greasy Hearts still found time to record three more tracks, released here as part of a split release with Sun Voyager for the first time.
New Marmozets dates announced & free download
They’ve not even finished their current run of dates supporting Taking Back Sunday and Marmozets have already announced another run of UK live dates for early in the new year.

ABSENT FRIENDS: Wot Gorilla?
In the summer of 2012, math rock/alt-metal act Wot Gorilla? really impressed us with their very technical third release ‘Kebnekaise’.
Many live shows followed the release of the album and the band really built up a following. With this in mind, we expected to hear more from them – maybe hints that a new album was imminent by the end of 2014, given that a new track ‘Joints’ was posted on their Bandcamp page in July.
Genovia Forever update EP material
In the summer of 2014, hardcore punk band Genovia Forever released their debut EP ‘Shut Up & Listen!‘. Their sound was raw but their energy immense.
A few months on, they’ve now re-recorded most of that EP material with a few new tracks. It’s still got that necessary rawness, but on the newer recordings, some of the vocals are more audible and the bass is bigger. The new recordings tie in with live dates in the US, the remaining dates of which are listed below.
Tracklist revealed for Rainbow box set
At the end of January, rock legends Rainbow will release a six disc, career spanning box set. Much speculation has been made as to what the set supposedly contains. Even at the time of writing, Amazon UK does not share any details.
Although its been common knowledge for some time that the set will contain many unreleased gems, things have been quiet on the tracklist front, but you can now check out the full contents below. Of particular note is the inclusion of the live version of ‘Stargazer’ (previously only available on the Monsters of Rock 1980 live LP) and a DVD containing the TV broadcast version of that same headline performance, clocking in at approximately half an hour. The Donington film has been bootlegged many times, but this set marks the first time it has been issued in an official capacity.
