New Anthony Phillips tribute set for October release
There have been various Genesis related tributes and revisitation recordings over the years – not least of all from former guitarist Steve Hackett – but the solo works of the band’s first guitarist Anthony Phillips have all too often gone unheralded by comparison.
This October, musicians associated with the Rocking Horse Recording Studio are set to put that right. Along with the help of their more famous guests – including the legendary Steve Hackett and Supertramp man John Helliwell – ‘Which Way The Wind Blows’ takes a new look at some of Anthony’s great solo works.
JANICE PRIX – Nobody Would Know EP
Indie pop band Janice Prix weren’t exactly accepted by their local crowd at first. Deciding to create synth heavy sounds with clean vocals and big pop hooks didn’t exactly endear them to their neighbourhood and a scene full of metal oriented bands. If there’s something the Swedes have always been good at, though, it’s creating good pop hooks…and so Janice Prix continued on their quest undeterred. Their debut EP ‘Nobody Would Know’ says so much about their determination as their talent. Its five songs are layered in synths and punchy drum loops, yet at the same time, there’s a huge sound and just enough guitar to endear them to the kind of people who expect their pop to deliver a bit more than a quick sugar fuelled hit.

The Fierce And The Dead have had a great couple of years. Interest in their third album ‘The Euphoric’ was far greater than expected and higher profile live shows have really seen their fanbase grow. At Real Gone, we’ve been fans of the arty instrumental band’s work for some time, so the opportunity to catch up with Matt Stevens (guitar/loops) and Kev Feazey (bass) was something we couldn’t miss.
