In 2022, Pat Todd & The Rankoutsiders recorded a version of Frut’s ‘Prison of Love’ for the Detroit Covers Series, a collection of 7” releases where bands are invited to pair a new recording with a Detroit-based tune of their choosing. No stranger to putting their own mark on other people’s songs, Pat and his band attacked the track with a real gusto, bringing the semi-obscurity to a new audience in style.

Watch: Common Tongue release new track ‘Done’
After breaking through with their ‘Isolation’ single in 2023, Common Tongue set upon a musical journey where huge riffs would reign. It was immediately clear that the duo – hailing from Southsea, on the south coast of England – were capable of summoning the fire and fury of a full band set up, and the huge swagger at the heart of that debut might find an audience among the lovers of Royal Blood and early Muse.

ROB MOSS AND SKIN-TIGHT SKIN – Records
In punk terms, Rob Moss mightn’t be a household name, but he’s been a part of the US alternative scene forever. He’s been a member of Government Issue, Artificial Peace and, in his own words “a bunch of other bands”, and much like Kurt Baker, that Muck dude from Muck & The Mires and Dan Kopko – who features on this 2024 release – his relative lack of fame really doesn’t matter. What he has brought over the years in terms of musical energy and enthusiasm is far more important.
