Still riding high from the praise of their 2020 7″ ‘Look Alive’, US skate punks released their fourth long player ‘Dreamers’ in the spring of 2021. With thirteen new songs that really capitalised on the strength of the previous single, the album was rightly praised by a broad selection of punk zines and websites. From the anthemic sounding ‘Echoes’ with a barrage of whoahs used effectively throughout, the social commentary of ‘2020’, and the outright optimism of ‘See You At The Show’, it was an album that offered a broad spectrum of modern punk fans something to enjoy.

Check out the new Bee Gees cover from Kid Gulliver

Following on from their brilliant ‘Boy In A Bubble’ single which really tapped into a nostalgic 90s indie sound, Boston power poppers opt for something a little punchier on their new release. A cover of the Bee Gees’ 1968 hit ‘I Started A Joke’, the new recording twists a once mildly disturbing ballad into a high octane power pop jam.

Joni Mitchell ‘Archives Vol. 2’ box set due in October

Joni Mitchell’s fourth album, ‘Blue’, celebrates its half century this week. Considered one of Joni’s most essential works, the songs helped usher in an era of confessional song writing, and tracks like ‘River’ (as covered by Heart, Linda Ronstadt, and more recently Sam Smith) and ‘A Case of You’ (later covered by Tori Amos and Prince) are considered classics.
