It seems unbelievable that we’re now half way through the year, but here we are. We discovered and shared a truckload of new music during the first quarter, half expecting things to fizzle out as we moved towards the northern hemisphere summer, but it really wasn’t the case. If anything, the year’s second quarter was every bit as strong.
We’ve covered more than enough stuff over the past three months to fashion the best bits into another playlist, which we hope will open your ears to something new, or perhaps inspire you to backtrack to a review or two you might have missed along the way.
This second instalment for ’21 is the usual mixed bag. We’ve got a cool Supergrass cover from favourites Get The Fuck Outta Dodge, a clutch of bands flying the flag for Rum Bar Records, some brilliant AOR – including a track from the excellent Robin McAuley LP – and a couple of bands from the excellent independent label Red On Red. Want more? There’s also punk from DeeCRACKS, metal from Australian band LORD and a brace of power pop.
