Within The Ruins have seen many band members come and go over the years, they’ve won and lost record label support, but still, they’ve pushed forward never giving in. Their 2010 release ‘Invade’ found the band expanding from the melodic death metal roots and expanding their sounds to include elements of extreme tech/math metal and a pinch of industrial. The result was still uncompromising, but far more assured – even slicker (a relative term here, of course). With this album, it seemed very much as if years of hard work had paid off and Within The Ruins had truly arrived. Frank Turner: Radio 1 Live Lounge
As part of the ongoing promotion for his 2013 release ‘Tape Deck Heart’, singer/songwriter Frank Turner made an appearance on Radio 1’s prestigious Live Lounge on June 13th.
His two song set included his upcoming single ‘The Way I Tend To Be’ and a cover of the Foo Fighters classic ‘All My Life’. Both songs can be viewed in the embedded clips below.
FAUNTELLA CROW – Lost Here EP
Fauntella Crow is a singer-songwriter/pop/folk duo from Los Angeles comprising of vocalist/pianist Sunday Lane and violinist/vocalist Jessy Green. Lane, a classically trained pianist makes her first huge steps into the music world at large with this project, while Green has an impressive resume having previously worked with Glen Campbell, Wilco and alongside the legendary Dave Grohl in his Sound City Players (a project also featuring Rick Springfield, Stevie Nicks and other household names). Fauntella Crow first came to the attention of many when they appeared at the 2013 SXSW Festival.
MAGNUS KARLSSON – Free Fall
Swedish guitarist Magnus Karlsson will be familiar to some rock fans as a collaborator on Jorn Lande and Russell Allen’s trilogy of albums, having lent some meaty musical chops to the works of those powerhouse vocalists. ‘Free Fall’ – Karlsson’s solo debut – follows in the melodic power metal tradition, with a roll call of impressive vocal talents helping to breathe life into his material, as well as some killer lead guitar work throughout.
