Towards the end of 2016, the debut release from Bullet Proof Lovers finally got a belated US release. The cross continental band, fronted by Kurt Baker and featuring members from Spain and the US served up plenty of excitement in a short duration and suggested the band would deliver the goods on subsequent releases.
The wait is over.
Alter Eden’s first release – ‘Fearless‘, released in 2015 – showcased a world of heavy riffs, which combined with a few big hooks and a quirky vocal style made for some interesting listening. While some tracks were better than others, that EP showed no weak links musically speaking, which suggested that future endeavours would be equally good…if not better.
King Black Acid started as a bedroom project for song writer and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Riddle. Over the course of a few years, it has evolved into a full band, often with a revolving cast, dependent on Riddle’s own musical needs. Past King Black Acid alum have included Pigface’s Joseph Trump, Scott Adamo of the Wipers and Richmond Fontaine’s Dan Eccles.
Towards the end of 2016, Death Metal Pope invited you to their ‘Harvest’. That EP presented some superb doom grooves and showed the future to be wide open for the Long Island metal band. As part of the promotion for the EP, they’ve made a new video for ‘From The Dust Returned’, which you can watch in full below. The clip shows why the EP was one of the best from last year and should open the door for those who missed the release first time around.
Taking the core elements of classic late 80s thrash metal, the downtuned storminess of Swedish melodic death metal and elements of technical progressive death and hardcore, Sweden’s Snake Tongue make an unholy racket on their debut LP ‘Raptor’s Breath’. The results are probably the most impressive since Vision of Disorder tore off listeners for the first time back in the mid nineties.
