In the late 70s and early 80s, the BBC had a series of programmes called ‘Sight and Sound In Concert’. These specially filmed gigs were simultaneously broadcast on BBC TV and radio. A few are available commercially – as is the case with the excellent Thin Lizzy performance from the Hitchin Regal in 1983 – but sadly, many are not. Thankfully, due to repeat showings, many fans have pristine off-airs of shows by Camel, Gentle Giant, Renaissance and others.

Led Zeppelin: Poll results & video gallery
For the past week, Real Gone has been running a Led Zeppelin poll. A huge poll containing each of the Zep studio recordings, rather than just letting fans come and choose their favourites, we structured things slightly differently. Voters were given nine votes and only allowed to pick one track from each of the albums.
A few people claimed this to be unfair – after all, when faced with an album as strong as Led Zeppelin’s fourth, how could you possibly choose ‘Stairway To Heaven’ over ‘The Battle of Evermore’, or even ‘When The Levee Breaks’ over the mighty ‘Black Dog’ with its huge riffs? How could only one vote be allocated to ‘Physical Graffiti’ – a sprawling double album featuring fifteen songs and at least seven cast iron classics? Therein lied the big challenge.
THE FALL OUT BOY ‘AMERICAN BEAUTY/AMERICAN PSYCHO’ POLL
Fall Out Boy released their sixth album, the much anticipated ‘American Beauty/American Psycho’ in the UK on January 19th and have also announced a set of live dates.
At Real Gone, we still love ‘Under The Cork Tree’ no matter how old it gets, but with all the excitement surrounding the new release, we want to know how do YOU rate the new album overall? Is it an instant hit, or is there an older FOB work you just can’t say goodbye to?
EDGAR FROESE (1944-2015)
Edgar Willmar Froese passed away on 20th January 2015 at the age of 70 as a result of a pulmonary embolism. Between the late 60s and his death, he put his mark upon over a hundred recordings with Tangerine Dream, as well as releasing several dozen solo albums (albums which have rarely been given their due; some of which were not available in their original mixes on CD for many years).
THE BIG LED ZEPPELIN POLL
With the release of the ‘Physical Graffiti’ deluxe edition due in a few weeks and Jimmy Page’s Led Zeppelin reissue campaign reaching the halfway stage, Real Gone decided to have some fun.
We know there are a lot of Led Zeppelin fans out there – and a fair few visiting this website regularly. This week between Wednesday 21st and Tuesday 27th January, it’s OFFICIAL ZEPPELIN WEEK at Real Gone!
