IMPELLITTERI – The Nature Of The Beast

Impelliteri’s tenth studio album ‘Venom‘ was a funny record. Not intentionally so, unfortunately, but lyrically it was so clichéd, it managed to make Judas Priest seem like they could be nominated for an Ivor Novello award at any given moment. Funnier still was Chris Impellitteri’s thinking behind the release: he supposedly wanted to “…create a metal record that would appeal to everyone… Even women”, apparently. Here was a man so stuck within a universe centred around 1984, he failed to even see how a lot of women were active on the metal scene at the time of its release. The very idea that some of them were even in bands might’ve just made his little head explode.

Deer Tick confirm new compilation release for February ’19

Cult indie/Americana band Deer Tick have confirmed they will release a new album in February 2019.

Entitled ‘Mayonnaise’, the album will feature re-workings of tracks from 2017’s critically acclaimed ‘Deer Tick Vol. 1’ and ‘Vol. 2’ albums alongside some well chosen cover tunes, including familiar material written by George Harrison and The Velvet Underground.

FOREVER UNCLEAN – Woof EP

Mixing skate punk, pop punk, melodic hardcore and scratchy 80s indie, Denmark’s Forever Unclean delve into a melting pot of sounds that can turn on a sixpence. It’s will full credit to the band that such a varied sound works as well as it does; if any of the musicians were in any way slack, the tunes on their 2018 EP ‘Woof’ could fall apart in an instant.

Rose Tattoo: 5CD box set featuring archive live shows due very soon

5549697d-0e76-4a0b-b5cb-fea066642719.jpgAussie rock legends Rose Tattoo have always been better known for their ferocious live performances.  On October 17th, Cleopatra Records will release ‘Scarred For Live: 1980-1982’, a five disc set featuring the band during their classic years.

Among other things, the set includes their appearance at the Reading Festival in 1981.  The show was recorded by the BBC and got a couple of repeat plays during Alan Freeman’s Radio 1 Rock Show in the early 90s.
