During the first lockdown of 2020, Radiohead went back into their extensive archive and began sharing pro-shot, full length gigs to entertain their rabid fan base. Some great films emerged from that time, but few seem as adventurous as this set from a South American gig.
During the first UK pandemic lockdown of 2020, much to the delight of fans, Radiohead explored their archives and uploaded various professionally shot live shows to YouTube for free. It was an interesting document of shows we may not have been given access to in a “normal world”.
Few bands have made such a dramatic musical turn as Radiohead between the release of their second album ‘The Bends’ and third album ‘OK Computer’. With ‘OK Computer’ Radiohead continued on a path of musical adventurousness and in looking to move forwards, they looked backwards in terms of influences. Instead of drawing from other indie and alternative sources, the album drew heavily from prog rock experimentation and made the band heroes to many fans of 70s experimental sounds.
In conjunction with Paste, the excellent online music source Noisetrade are offering a full length live recording from Radiohead ABSOLUTELY FREE. What’s more, it’s from 1995 – recorded just a short time after the release of ‘The Bends’, y’know, back when they knew how to write accessible tunes.
