Welcome back to the Real Gone Singles Bar, the place where we explore some of the individual mp3s that have landed in our inbox over the previous few weeks. This time out, it’s a rather rocky selection with a big hello for Egg Drop Soup and The Palace of Tears, alongside the return of Silver Dollar Room. That doesn’t mean we’ve skimped on the other stuff of course, and we bring you some huge sunny pop, a slice of dreampop from a legendary act, and more besides!

Until 9’s 2023 EP ‘Dyadic’ shared some absolutely brilliant metal sounds. The Yorkshire based band really weren’t shy in exploring their love of nu-metal, and the release’s best tracks channelled an already retro sound that blended the darker elements of bands like Mudvayne with the force of scene giants like Coal Chamber.
At the beginning of April 2024, The Amplifier Heads released their fifth long player ‘Songs From They Came To Rock’. A rather fun disc, the soundtrack from their B-movie inspired imaginations blended garage rock with a massive 50s inspired twist.
Set Frux released their self titled debut album on April 19th. The record’s blend of pop, light electronica, indie and dream pop creates a hazy listen, which is perfectly suited to a soundtrack of escapism. Diana Planche’s sense of melody is strong throughout, and although the band’s arrangements often have a retro quality, their songs play brilliantly in the present.
As part of the record’s ongoing promotion, Set Feux have created a video for one of the album’s stand out cuts, ‘Let Them Stare’.
