Barely any time has passed since US doom metal band Death On Fire released their ‘Six Foot Box’ EP, but the Fort Wayne riff makers are back with a new treat. Tapping into their slower, moodier side, they’ve unleashed a cover of Type O Negative’s ‘World Coming Down’.
Indiana death metal/extreme metal band Death On Fire cover a wide musical ground on the follow up to their 2020 long player ‘Ghost Songs’. The ‘Six Foot Box’ EP only features three tracks, but by taking elements of old school thrash metal, a pinch of black metal coldness and broad strokes of doom, the material almost feels as if it crams in a full album’s worth of ideas into a little under fifteen minutes.
Every once in a while, a track comes along that is incredibly forceful, but it’s the combination of riffs and images that makes for that unbelievable sucker punch. Rarely since the release of Jobs For A Cowboy’s ‘Tarnished Glutttony’ in 2012 – with its themes of death and guilt – has a video made such an instant impact as Death On Fire’s ‘Architects’.
