Turbokill’s debut full length ‘Vice World’ introduced many metal fans to a band with a “classic” sound. Taking huge cues from the likes of Judas Priest and fellow Germans Accept, the album flaunted a whole world of twin lead guitar breaks and absolutely ripping solos set against a barrage of unashamedly 80s influenced riffs. On the album’s more bombastic tunes like ‘Pulse of The Swarm’ occasional even heavier moments gave vocalist Stephan Dietrich a massive platform from which to share a huge vocal, but on tunes like ‘Global Monkey Show’, the adoption of a more speed driven, party metal sound gave him the opportunity to truly soar. With numbers like ‘Fortress of The Universe’ showing how the band could also keep up with European power metal trends, ‘Vice World’ was an album that fans of traditional metal couldn’t afford to miss.

Listen: Pet Twin shares new single ‘A Soulful Day’, featuring Cate DeBu
James Gallagher, aka Pet Twin, has shared a few interesting tracks over the past year. Never content with sticking to one genre, previous Pet Twin fare has explored jangling indie sounds, dense shoegaze and even dreampop.
The current single ‘A Soulful Day’ reintroduces the dreampop element of the Pet Twin sound, but a really trippy approach to the arrangement ensures that it sounds very different to anything that’s been heard before from the Pet Twin stable.
Kill Lincoln preview new album with ‘Little Ghosts’
Kill Lincoln aren’t necessarily the first name you think of when it comes to US ska punk and skacore sounds, but the band are among the scene’s hardest working and musically intense.

Before the release of ‘The Awakening’, Nyte has given fans a classic sounding preview via the single ‘Mirror Midnight’.
Listen: Call To The Void share new track ‘Viper’s Venom’
Call To The Void have been lurking within the musical underground for a while. In the summer of 2023, the London based band shared their debut single ‘Uncontrollable’ which blended sharp edged, 90s inspired elements – Pixies/Nirvana-eque basslines coupled with a noisy chorus – with a few 80s goth traits to create something that had one eye on the past, but sounded really punchy in the present. Their belated follow up, ‘Blow’, delivered in January 2024, explored a few different sounds. Stoking up the bass and relying more on a moody vocal, it shared moments that sounded, strangely, a little more like they were channelling a couple of old Billy Idol hits, but with the help of some aggressive guitar work, their love of 90s alternative sounds still remained obvious.
