Grab a free sampler from Rum Bar Records / Boston Blowout gig in July!

On July 23rd 2021, Rum Bar Records are hosting a special gig. Their “Boston Blowout” will be headlined by garage rock legends Dogmatics, and feature a strong supporting line up of four of the city’s best loved underground bands.

The event will be held at ONCE x Boynton Yards. with a 5pm door opening time, for “a 6pm show sharp!!”  Tickets are $15 advance / $20 day of show.  Advance tickets can be purchased from the following link: www.eventbrite.com/e/watts-the-dogmatics-the-dents-stop-calling-me-frank-tickets-160818007991

As a consolation for those who are unable to travel to Boston, the label have issued a free download rounding up a few tracks from the featured bands. It’s worth grabbing, and especially so for the two Watts cuts, one advertising their current LP (‘Shocking Pink’, a track featuring an especially cool lead guitar sound) and ‘Flash of White Light’, a throwback to their third LP. A fantastic snapshot of the core Watts sound, ‘Flash…’ takes a Stones-eque riff, amps it up to garage rock volumes and gives it a proto-punk New York Dolls send off.  The riffs are fast and sharp, the vocal pointed, the rhythms hard.  If the speed doesn’t get you, the call-and-response chorus and stabbed piano sound in the left speaker channel surely will; this is old-school rock ‘n’ roll at its finest.

On top of that, it’s an easy reminder of why Dogmatics remained so influential, a re-introduction to The Dents (a band featuring The Shang Hi-Los’ Jen DeAngora and a useful tool for plugging the hard-working Stop Calling Me Frank.
