The band’s albums following Lou Barlow’s departure and running from 1991’s ‘Green Mind’ to 1997’s ‘Hand It Over’ represents the band’s most commercial period. At their peak, the band cracked the UK top 40 singles chart with ‘Start Choppin’ and ‘Feel The Pain’, the latter becoming a staple for alternative compilations for a time.
The four albums have been issued in expanded editions previously, but Cherry Red’s deluxe sets promise far more for the fans, pairing the original albums with a truckload of extra material…and even completely unreleased live shows. For those who’ve owned the Australian 2CD edition of ‘Without A Sound’ since the 90s, there’s some especially good news in that the new edition will not only reprise the live tracks from that now hard to find item, but present the whole gig!
More info and detailed track listings can be found at the Cherry Red website.
Real Gone will be taking a far more in-depth look at the eagerly awaited reissues very soon… Stay tuned!
In the meantime, watch a full set by the band at The Norwegian Wood Festival in Oslo here.
