Russian Baths share new track ‘Parasite’

US noise rockers Russian Baths have issued a new digital single this week.  Entitled ‘Parasite’, the new track cranks up the guitars in a way that recycles a love for old arty, shoegaze inflected noise.

It’s overall feel should appeal to those who loved My Bloody Valentine in the early 90s and have more recently fallen for the charms of the more melodic end of A Place To Bury Strangers’ distortion drenched output.

Roo Panes to issue deluxe version of ‘Quiet Man’ album; New tour dates announced

In 2018, singer songwriter Roo Panes released his album ‘Quiet Man’ to critical acclaim.  A performer often likened to Nick Drake, he promoted the album with an extensive run of live dates including a sold out show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

A year on, ‘Quiet Man’ is to receive a deluxe reissue.  The new edition includes three previously unreleased studio tracks – including the new single ‘Commentator’ (listen below) and six live tracks recorded at the Shepherd’s Bush gig.

VARIOUS ARTISTS – Strangers In The Room: A Journey Through The British Folk-Rock Scene 1967-73

A product of the late 60s freedoms and musical experimentation, British folk-rock gave the world a few classic albums in its formative years. Fairport Convention’s ‘What We Did On Our Holidays’ and ‘Leige & Leif’, both released in 1969, arguably took the musical fusion from being of cult status and into the more mainstream. Now considered indispensable by fans everywhere, these are albums without which Led Zeppelin’s third album might not exist in quite the same way…or even at all. Often taking a more trad direction in their early years, Steeleye Span captured the fingered-ear of folkies with 1970’s ‘Please To See The King’, whilst Lindisfarne also gained a great deal of commercial success with a slightly more raucous take on a rapidly growing genre, even if that success has been somewhat overlooked in the passing of time.

DITCHES – The Taste EP

Formed in 2016, Ditches are a Swedish band who mix garage rock, surf rock and punk. Their 2018 release ‘1000 Elephants’ was mixed and mastered by Mark Ryan and Jeff Burke (both previously of The Marked Men) and featured five frenzied rockers that filled the gap left by Hives when they became more commercial.
