FROM UNDER CONCRETE KINGS – Modus Exodus EP

Prior to forming From Under Concrete Kings, vocalist Joseph Isayea and bassist Previte had spent many years working together in various other bands. Between Previte’s love of heavy distortion and a frontman capable of creating a sound that raised the bar in terms of deep intensive growls, the duo soon marked themselves out as being able to create a truly fearsome sound. While they obviously understand each other and share a similar vision in terms of creativity, it was the addition of drummer Freddy Valesco (sometime of hardcore band Great American Ghost) that made things finally gel.

Death On Fire unveil new video for ‘Architects’

Every once in a while, a track comes along that is incredibly forceful, but it’s the combination of riffs and images that makes for that unbelievable sucker punch.  Rarely since the release of Jobs For A Cowboy’s ‘Tarnished Glutttony’ in 2012 – with its themes of death and guilt – has a video made such an instant impact as Death On Fire’s ‘Architects’.

AKHENATEN – Golden Serpent God

Exploring a variety of extreme metal traits and breaking up the intensities with elements inspired by soundtracks and world music, this 2018 release from Akhenaten is very interesting. It certainly isn’t your run of the mill death metal release. But then, you should expect nothing less than a sense of adventure and a progressive attitude from an album that “explores the forgotten paths of history” and is “steeped in the mythology of Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia”.
