Butch Walker’s 2011 release ‘The Spade’ was a real mixed bag of a record, showcasing a variety of the singer/renowned producer’s many musical styles, from hard rockers through power pop gems and even a foray into quirky new wave-ish material. It was the kind of record that most people were unlikely to enjoy all of; however, the variety within its grooves meant there was something featured that would be of interest to most rock/pop fans. From beginnings likely to incur mixed feelings, it proved somewhat of a grower – a record that improved with each passing year.

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS – Nanobots
They Might Be Giants have never been known for churning out hits, and yet, have often found themselves with a loyal cult audience and record company support. It’s also hard to believe that – taking on board their sideline in making albums for children – 2013’s ‘Nanobots’ is their sixteenth album. Their first to be released on the power pop label Lojinx in the UK/Europe, does such an association mean the music has shifted farther towards the kind of music often released via that label? No. Is there an obvious hit single among its staggering twenty five tracks? As with most TMBG releases there are a couple of contenders, though as always, the most commercial moments aren’t necessarily the most captivating.
Real Gone Exclusive: New video from Young Hines
In 2012, singer-songwriter Young Hines released his debut solo album, the Brendan Benson produced ‘Give Me My Change’ via Readymade Records in the US and Lojinx in the UK/Europe.
In on-going promotion for the record, he now has a new video for the track ‘Don’t Break My Fall’, which can now be seen below.
