Featuring three ex-members of Panic Cell, Seven Deadly are a five piece metal band from the UK. Although they credit themselves as a thrash metal band, their overall sound isn’t as rooted within the classic eighties subgenre as some (Cry Havoc, we’re looking at you!). Perhaps more than thrash, the riffs on this debut EP often evoke the sounds of Pantera styled power grooves, as well as more than a passing resemblance to the mighty Lamb of God, while vocally, their use of filters and clean melodies puts them more in line with Killswitch Engage and the twenty first century metalcore scene. In many respects, though, these musical tags are unimportant; it’s whether the music makes an impression that’s of most importance – and from a huge metal perspective, even though it’s hugely generic,‘The Allegiance EP’ mostly pushes the right buttons.
The Breeders: tour dates for 2013
Formed in 1988, The Breeders biggest break came with their second album, 1993’s ‘Last Splash’. Featuring their best known track ‘Cannonball’, the album became a cornerstone of many alternative record collections in the 1990s.
To celebrate that album’s twentieth anniversary, Kim Deal and her merry band are taking to the road again, for a medium sized tour throughout May and June, ending with three UK dates.
Pennywise & Face To Face to play Aussie dates
With vocalist Jim Lindberg back on board, Pennywise are set to play a handful of dates in Australia along with the recently reformed Face To Face. The Menzingers are to provide support at all shows.
My Bloody Valentine: remaining confirmed tour dates
Their follow up to 1990’s seminal ‘Loveless’ may have been a long time coming (approximately twenty three years, in fact), but not only do My Bloody Valentine’s fans have a new album to enjoy, there’s also an opportunity to catch Kevin Shields and co live.
Big D & The Kids Table launch Kickstarter campaign
Big D & The Kids Table have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund not one, but TWO new albums.
Best associated with the third wave of ska in the US, the band’s sound can be somewhat more eclectic, taking in elements of punk, pop, thrash, reggae and a bit of dub. With this in mind, Big D are set to release two albums: one of upbeat ska and punk, with a second release taking in more of their lighter, reggae influenced sounds.
