Listen: The Fierce And The Dead release new single ‘Somehow’

On September 18th 2026, The Fierce And The Dead will release their fifth album, ‘Regional Theatre’. The band have always been keen to break down musical barriers and not be beholden to one particular style, but the new record is their boldest yet, with arrangements that explore genres previously not associated with the Fierce/Dead sound.

One of the record’s biggest deviations from the “expected” comes via their brand new single, ‘Somehow’.

‘Somehow’ is a track that places some of the tinkling guitar sounds from the days of ‘Spooky Action’ over a backdrop of goth-pop, delivering something that sounds like a throwback to the genre’s 1989-92 heyday. Armed with a wonderful melody, this is almost “pop” by Fierce/Dead standards, whilst retaining a huge sense of heart, and presenting a gentle melancholy which is definitely appealing. With faint echoes of early Cure material and a pinch of post rock darkness, the Fierce/Dead take on the goth tinged sound feels like a natural step, with Kevin Feazey’s vocals sitting particularly comfortably within the melodic arrangement.

It might be a track that’ll divide fan opinion, and yet it still isn’t ‘Regional Theatre’s most bold move, musically speaking… Those who like ‘Somehow’ will love it.
