Watch the new video from stoner duo Yur Mum

The last time the world heard from Yur Mum was at the tail end of 2019. The fuzzy garage rock stoner duo had just released their ‘Ellipsis’ EP – which turned out to be one of the best rock releases of the year – and the future looked bright. Then, in March 2021, the Covid-19 pandemic hit and, pretty much like everyone else, Yur Mum were forced to retreat.

Their time in lockdown during 2020 wasn’t wasted, of course, and Yur Mum took time out to write new material. The first glimpse of their new work comes in the shape of digital single/video ‘Black Rainbow’. The new track has plenty to appeal to lovers of the band’s earlier work and this becomes clear the moment the main riff kicks in. Even compared to previous recordings, it seems especially distorted, but as before, the combination of the dark riffs and Analise’s banshee wails sets up a brilliant sound. Combined with the stark black and white visuals set on an almost deserted beach, ‘Black Rainbow’ feels very much like ultimate audio/visual snapshot of 2020’s overall mood.
