On 16th January 2026, Silver Dollar Room announced the upcoming release of a new single. The same day, they broke the news to their fans that this would be their final recording.

They might not have reached the status of a band that were selling out big venues, but over a few short years, they made their mark on the Scottish underground rock scene and would certainly be missed by those who’d taken note of their work.

Listen: Silver Dollar Room share final single ‘Black Widow’

Scottish rockers Silver Dollar Room had a very busy two years with their release of their ‘Gilded Echoes’ album and its acoustic counterpart in 2024, and the almost equally enjoyable ‘Can’t Rain All The Time’ and a piano-based reworking of the entire album both appearing in 2025.

With the announcement of a brand new non album single ‘Black Widow’ coming just two weeks into 2026, it appeared on the surface as if the band were setting themselves up for yet another busy year. However, the announcement was coupled with the news that the band were to split soon after, making ‘Black Widow’ their swansong.

SILVER DOLLAR ROOM – It Can’t Rain All The Time

With ‘Gilded Echoes’, Scotland’s Silver Dollar Room released one of the best albums of 2024. The band’s sound wasn’t particularly groundbreaking, but they clearly recognised the value of taking influences and using them very effectively. With strong call backs to Bush, an influence from early Smashing Pumpkins, and nods melodic post-grungers like Moist, the material adopted a solid sound throughout, and with the aid of various thoughtful lyrics – often touching on themes of mental health – a familiar sound still had a great relevance at the time of release.

Watch: Silver Dollar Room share new video for ‘Monsters’

Barely six weeks after the release of ‘Come Morning’, Scotland’s Silver Dollar Room have returned with the immensely powerful ‘Monsters’, a riff heavy number that really shows off their alt-rock sound in the most direct way possible.

The track’s opening rhythm guitar salvo calls back to 90s emo with strong echoes of Shift within the tone. This catches the ear with immediate effect, suggesting that this could be one of the band’s biggest sounding tunes to date. From there, though, ‘Monsters’ grows into something huge; a tune that moves between a few very distinctly different musical passages, eventually peaking with an epic instrumental break, showcasing the band’s heaviest sounds to date.
