Marilyn Manson to play one-off show at London’s Brixton Academy

It has been announced that Marilyn Manson will play a one-off UK show at London’s Brixton Academy on 5th July.

The sole UK appearance this year is to replace Manson’s previously scheduled slot at the 2012 UK Sonisphere Festival which was cancelled last month due to undisclosed circumstances.

The show promotes the release of ‘Born Villain’, the band’s eighth studio album, which is released via Cooking Vinyl records in the UK on April 30th 2012.

Thee new Green Day albums to be released before next January

It’s been almost three years since the release of Green Day’s last studio album, ’21st Century Breakdown’. It’s also been known for some time that the band were busy writing new material.

It has been officially announced via Billy Joe Armstrong’s own twitter account that fans can definitely expect new material to be released before the end of 2011. Since Green Day have a habit of being fairly prolific when it comes to songwriting, the band now have a huge stockpile of unreleased material.

The official word is there will be three album releases between an undisclosed date this year and January 2013!

Titled ‘Uno!’, ‘Dos!’ and ‘Tre!’, fans can expect some of the new material to stretch Green Day’s musical boundaries even more than before. At the time of writing, no track listings have been confirmed, though it is strongly believed that some of the material premiered at a secret show in August 2011 will see the light of day.

Expect more updates soon.

Ronnie Montrose’s death was suicide

Although previously reported that legendary guitarist Ronnie Montrose lost his life after a long battle with prostate cancer, it is now reported that his death was a suicide. Although Montrose had suffered cancer, a San Francisco coroner has confirmed that Montrose had, in fact, died, from a gunshot wound to the stomach.

It is said that by the time of his death, Montrose had beaten prostate cancer, but was still wrestling “personal demons”.

Black Sabbath to appear at Lollapalooza 2012

It has been announced that Black Sabbath will appear at the 2012 Lollapalooza Festival.

This year’s event takes place at Grant Park, Chicago between August 3rd-5th. It is not yet known whether original drummer Bill Ward will play at this show.

Also confirmed to appear at the three day event are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence + The Machine, The Black Keys, the recently reformed At The Drive-In, The Temper Trap, The Afghan Whigs and Franz Ferdinand.

Jack White also has a spot high on the bill, performing a solo set in support of his solo debut ‘Blunderbuss’.

Black Sabbath are currently in the studio (again, without Ward) recording new material. It will be the first new material recorded by original members Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi since the aborted sessions from 2001.
