As previously announced, Rancid are playing a run of live dates in the US this coming June. They’ve now announced extra shows, as detailed below.
THE COMPUTERS – Love Triangles, Hate Squares
The first two releases from The Computers showed a band firmly rooted in garage punk noise. In the three years between their debut EP (2008’s ‘You Can’t Hide From…’) and their first full length release (2011’s ‘This Is The Computers’), although still raucous, the band had tempered the rawest end of their sound with a hefty dose of punk ‘n’ roll. That shift was hugely influenced by the album’s producer, Rocket From The Crypt’s John Reis, bringing a new dimension to the band’s sound.
REAL GONE GOES OUT: KMFDM – Islington Academy, London 20/04/13
‘Kunst’, the eighteenth studio release from KMFDM, is one of the best of their long career. On 20th April Real Gone had the opportunity to catch the band during their UK visit to see how well the new material fit in with their live set, when the cult industrialists headlined a four band bill.
ALICE AND THE GLASS LAKE – The Evolution EP
The brainchild of singer-songwriter Alice Lake, Alice & The Glass Lake explores various dream worlds of pop on this debut EP. Taken at face value, it’s quite, quite lovely. However, it shouldn’t escape the notice of most people that Lake’s pop fantasies and soundscapes owe so much to a few other artists who have graced us before, most notably Florence Welch and her million selling Machine. Still, for those who enjoy very thoughtful pop, that shouldn’t – and doesn’t – make her music any less enjoyable.
