NOFX to headline Tony Sly fundraiser

Punk veterans NOFX are to headline a fundraising gig for departed No Use For A Name frontman Tony Sly next month.

Sly passed away on July 31st at the age of 41. His brother Mike set up an account to raise money for the family – specifically Sly’s two nieces – which you can read a little more about at his official website.

The one-off show will take place on 15th December at the Vice Ultra Lounge in Walnut Creek, California. Also appearing are Teenage Bottlerocket, Elway and GFP.

NOFX released a new studio album ‘Self-Entitled’ in September 2012.

Descendents: four Australian shows confirmed for 2013

Punk legends Descendents journey to Australia early next year.

The band have confirmed four shows for February 2013, as follows:

2/6/13 Brisbane Eatons Hill
2/7/13 Sydney Big Top Luna Park
2/9/13 Melbourne Festival Hall
2/10/13 Perth Metro City

Support at all shows will be supplied by Bouncing Souls, Bodyjar and Aussie punks Frenzal Rhomb.   There are no UK shows confirmed.

New Rancid track streaming online

A previously unheard track by punk icons Rancid has surfaced online.

The track, entitled ‘Fuck You’ is included on a new compilation ‘Oi! This Is Streetpunk, Volume 2’, a vinyl only compilation which will be released on Pirates Press Records on 12th December 2012.

Although the album is vinyl only and not released yet, you can stream it all – including the new offering from Rancid – at this location. No other information regarding the source or age of the Rancid track is known at this time.

New video from Yo La Tengo

Yo La Tengo have posted a new video online for the track ‘Before We Run’, taken from their upcoming studio record ‘Fade’.

Now in their 28th year, ‘Fade’ is Yo La Tengo’s thirteenth studio album, their first since 2009. It is due for release via Matador Records in on January 14th 2013.
