Metal fans looking for a fix of devastating riffs with a traditional edge will definitely get a kick out of this new track from Bristol’s Insult.
From the opening bars, ‘0-60 Death Or Glory’ shares a guitar tone that evokes the sounds of classic 80s thrash, which coupled with a melody drawn straight from ‘Iron Fist’ era Motorhead, creates something with a ferocity that’s hard to ignore. A gravelly vocal goes some way towards giving this piece an extra toughness, but it’s when breaking into a world of fretboard melting guitar solos that capture the power of Phil Campbell and Wurzel Burston that the track really springs to life.
Falling somewhere between trad metal, thrash and punk, this recording presents a band with a real sense of drive. But then, that’s certainly what you should expect from a musical project featuring members of Onslaught. It’s certainly an impressive track, even with a less than perfect vocal take being shared, and as a first taste of Insult’s soon to be released debut album, it’s pretty much guaranteed to thrill those looking for a very retro, huge sounding slab of well-crafted noise.
Regarding their upcoming album, the band comments: “In an era where music is increasingly shaped by the digital world, we decided to take a different path. ‘Reside Infernus’ was produced without relying on the automated tools that many artists use today. Every riff, every lyric, every beat was crafted organically, driven by emotion, experience, and a deep connection to the art of making music. The result is something that speaks with authenticity—an album that breathes and roars rather than merely exists as a by-product of technology. We hope you enjoy it.”
Their choice of recording in the old school way certainly comes through on ‘0-60 Death Or Glory’, and presents Insult attacking in the truest sense. Take a listen below.
