Watch: Las Nubes Live on KEXP

If you’ve been paying attention to the rock underground throughout 2024, you’ll have encountered Las Nubes. The vibrant noise-makers have released a couple of genuinely excellent singles that have showed off the full range of their riff based talents. The music has dropped dream pop and shoegaze inspired riffs against a Melvins-like doominess. At other times, you might have heard them thrashing through a very Stooges-centric garage rock blueprint. No matter where there music has taken them, Las Nubes have never been less than thrilling, and their self proclaimed “fucking loud” second album really helped them to gain a place within the hearts of those seeking out cult sounds.

As 2024 gets ready to pull to a close, the band offers another massive treat via this live session, filmed in Seattle for KEXP. In a little short of twenty minutes, you can witness Las Nubes at full power, driving through Veruca Salt-like riffs at maximum volume, or even dropping a few harmonies in places where they’re not necessarily expected. For those looking to understand this band’s motivations a little better, there’s also a great interview with Ale Campos which places the band in context, sharing the reasons for presenting Las Nubes’ material in Spanish, and going a little deeper into drummer Emile Milgrim’s involvement with rock camps and the aim to get more women onto the stage.
