At the end of September ’22, Davey Lane’s band The Pictures made a long overdue return. The release of the ‘I Can’t Hold Back’ single marked the end of a fifteen year silence for the band, but in many ways, the track played as if it’d been a mere heartbeat since their previous release.

Mixing hard rock with a bit of a grungy aesthetic, the track was classic Pictures in so many ways, showing that the time was absolutely right for the sometime You Am I guitarist to revive his “other” band. With an album release planned for 2023, fans have more to look forward to, but in the meantime, he’s the new video clip for the current track. It isn’t necessarily a visual feast, but its brightly coloured, very 90s MTV performance style feels very right for the track, feeling somewhat like an update on the earlier ‘Ground Control’.
