Following on from last year’s ‘Both Directions At Once’, a previously lost John Coltrane recording from 1963, Impulse Records give Coltrane fans another reason to celebrate this coming September.
September 27th will see the release of ‘Blue World’, another recording previously thought to be long gone. A session recorded in 1964 with Coltrane’s “Classic Quartet” featuring drummer Elvin Jones, pianist McCoy Tyner and bassist Jimmy Garrison. Chronologically, the recording comes between the sessions for ‘Crescent’ and the classic ‘A Love Supreme’.
Originally envisaged as a film soundtrack, the project has never been released officially. All versions of familiar titles are making their debut on this release. A video clip and
