Coming to prominence as part of the second wave of ska in the late 70s, The Selecter will seemingly always be best known for their early singles ‘Three Minute Hero’ and ‘On My Radio’ and their 1979 full length ‘Too Much Pressure’. As one of a dozen or so albums released on the 2-Tone label, it achieved instant cult status and sounds just as fresh decades after it was recorded. The years passed and The Selecter endured shifting line-ups but, during an on-off career, continued to make great music and never lost their edge with regard to live performance.

REAL GONE GOES OUT: Levellers – Leas Cliff Hall, Folkestone 29/10/2014
In the summer of 2014, the Levellers issued a comprehensive greatest hits package, bringing together almost all of their single releases and promo videos in one place. Following a few festival shows, the band’s full tour staged at the end of the year was to be a celebration those hits to date. Tours often gain that certain something extra after a few shows, but right from this first night in a provincial theatre on the Kent coast, it’s clear from about three songs into their ninety minute set that Brighton’s favourite sons are on fine form.
Levellers: New anthology and tour imminent
Some twenty five years after achieving cult success with their folk-rock driven debut, the Levellers are set to celebrate their entire career. Marking years of hit singles and almost relentless touring, they present a 31 song Greatest Hits package this September. For the first time, all of the band’s singles will be available on one release, alongside newly recorded collaborations with Billy Bragg, Frank Turner, Bellowhead & Imelda May.
The release is promoted with a UK tour on which the band will be joined by The Selecter playing their classic album ‘Too Much Pressure’ in full.
