On July 11th 2014, legendary drummer/producer Tommy Ramone lost his fight with bile duct cancer at the age of 62. As a founding member of the pioneering punk band Ramones, Tommy helped usher in a whole musical movement, his band launching a wave of copycat acts throughout the decades that followed.

Cherry Poppin’ Daddies: European tour dates
US swing merchants Cherry Poppin’ Daddies head to Europe this coming September for live shows. Promoting their ‘White Teeth, Black Thoughts’ release, Steve Perry and co make a rare appearance in the UK at London’s Jazz Cafe on 30th September.

Ten Foot Pole: US summer tour
It’s been ten years since their last studio recordings, but US punks Ten Foot Pole are set to release a new LP next year. In the meantime, the band are setting out on a month long US tour this summer.

GENOVIA FOREVER – Shut Up And Listen! EP
With a typeface best associated with UK anarcho-punks Crass and a number of US bands that launched careers in the early 80s, the choice of sleeve art on this EP from Illinois hardcore band Genovia Forever gives listeners a pretty good idea of what to expect. Except, there’s a twist: the band’s name, the people depicted on the sleeve and at least one of these songs provides a direct reference to The Princess Diaries… Odd bedfellows indeed, but those things have inspired this four piece band to make an extremely angry recording – six tracks that recall those times when 7”s in monochrome wraparound sleeves sprang from DIY punk practitioners all across the US.
