PJ Harvey: Sales rocket after Mercury win

According to industry reports, sales of PJ Harvey’s album ‘Let England Shake’ are up six-fold since it won the Mercury prize last week.

On Wednesday 7th September, the album had sold over 3,300 copies in the first part of the week, making it the album’s most successful week for sales since its release back in February.

My Ruin to make new album available as a free download

The goth/metal/hard rock duo My Ruin – featuring ex-Tura Satana vocalist Tarrie B and her husband Mick Murphy – are to make their new album available online, totally free.

‘A Southern Revelation’, the band’s seventh album, will be available for free download on December 7 exclusively via www.myruin.net.

In an official statement, Tarrie says the download is “a thank you and gift to our longtime friends, fans and My Ruin family worldwide, for your continued support and rock love for us”.

DevilDriver frontman collaborating with Lamb Of God guitarist

According to a post on Twitter, DevilDriver’s lead vocalist Dez Fafara (ex-Coal Chamber) is working on a project with Lamb Of God’s Mark Morton.

The pair have written an albums worth of tunes – said to sound like a cross between doom band Trouble, power metallers Circus of Power and mid-period Soundgarden – though it is said they have no idea as to when the new music will be released.

Glenn Hughes acoustic tour news

Legendary rock performer Glenn Hughes (formerly of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, currently an active member of supergroup Black Country Communion) is to embark on a short solo tour this November.

The tour sees him performing songs from various stages of his career in an acoustic environment.

Glenn will be performing at the following venues:

Nov. 16 – Glee Club – Cardiff (Wales), UK

It’s been a busy year for Hughes, who has released a second album with Black Country Communion and toured with the band for the first time. He’s also released his autobiography, ‘Deep Purple And Beyond: Scenes From The Life Of A Rock Star’, published by Foruli Publications.
