On November 1st 2012, UK prog rock band Twelfth Night will reissue their 1984 live release ‘Live and Let Live’.

Like other Twelfth Night releases, the album has become somewhat collectable in its original vinyl format and even a much later CD reissue (including three bonus tracks) has been long out of print.

Those previous issues featured a handful of tracks recorded at vocalist Geoff Mann’s farewell gigs recorded at The Marquee, London in the autumn of 1983. The 2012 ‘definitive edition’ offers the fans a reconstruction of the whole setlist played at the three shows!

In addition to material previously released by Twelfth Night, the new version includes two tracks featured on the Geoff Mann compilation ‘Recorded Delivery’, but perhaps most importantly of all, 5 PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED PERFORMANCES, including a nineteen minute version of ‘The Collector’.

The 2CD version of ‘Live and Let Live’ is the fourth in a series of double disc Twelfth Night ‘definitive’ reissues. Previous titles include hugely expanded versions of ‘Art and Illusion’, ‘Live at The Target’ and the previously near impossible to find ‘Smiling At Grief’.

In addition to the releases from the band’s archive, three band members are also playing a few live shows under the name The Cryptic Clues (possibly for the last time), including an appearance at the all day Proguphoria event (full details available here).

Blink-182 are part of the line-up for the sold out five date Soundwave travelling festival next year, but fans in Australia are being given another chance to catch the pop-punk/emo band on their visit to Aus in February 2013.

Just prior to this announcement, the band announced the had commenced work on a follow-up to their 2011 album ‘Neighbourhoods’.

The band split in 2004 but reformed in 2011. Since reforming, they have released a full length LP and a split EP with Rise Against.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Rage Against The Machine’s much loved debut, the album will be reissued in November as a Super Deluxe Edition.

The box set edition will feature a remastered copy of the original album, a set of demo recordings and b-sides, a 12″ single and poster, as well as two separate DVDs.  One DVD will feature the promo clips and various performances between 1991-94 (including the band’s first ever appearance); the second will include the whole of the band’s Finsbury Park performance from 2010.

A scaled down special edition will also be available featuring the remastered album and b-sides, plus DVD of the 2010 gig.

While fans will welcome this release, it doesn’t round up everything from the band’s early years – it omits all the officially released live tracks which appeared on the uber-limited 3LP reissue (the same live tracks were issued on the expanded German-only ‘Bombtrack’ CD single).

On Saturday 20th October 2012, a very special event is to be held in Poole, Dorset. In a celebration of 80s prog, Galahad will headline an all-day event.

Entitled Proguphoria, the event will also feature sets by The Cryptic Clues, The Paul Menel Band and ex-Pallas vocalist Alan Reed.

Prog fans will already know that Paul Menel is an ex-member of UK progressive rock titans IQ, having sang on their two 80s releases ‘Nomzamo’ and ‘Are You Sitting Comfortably’. His set will celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘Nomzamo’ so that promises good things.

The Cryptic Clues will be presenting a set of music originally released by cult proggers Twelfth Night between 1981-83. You may not know The Cryptic Clues, but they are no ordinary tribute band… They include drummer Brian Devoil, guitarist Andy Revell and bassist Clive Mitten (all members of the classic line-up of Twelfth Night) with vocalist Mark Spencer of LaHost. What’s more, this appearance will be one of their very last.

In addition to the live music, there will be a charity auction, a prog rock disco and real ales available.

Proguphoria is to be held at Mr Kyps, Poole, 8a Parr St, Lower Parkstone, Dorset, BH14 0JY.

Tickets for the full day are priced at £20, but a special evening only ticket (allowing entry to see The Cryptic Clues and Galahad) is also available for just £12.
