New Alice In Chains video “Hollow”

Following repoerts that a new album was nearing completion, Alice In Chains have posted a new video online. The full clip can be seen below.

The track ‘Hollow’ – taken from that upcoming album – marks the band’s first studio work since 2009’s ‘Black Gives Way To Blue’, an album well-received by media but not so well by closed-minded fans.

The band’s upcoming album – its title as yet to be announced – is set for release in Spring 2013.

Steve Howe quits Asia

It has been confirmed that Steve Howe has quit Asia.

The legendary guitarist – best known for his work with Yes throughout the decades – has left the AOR/pomp band to concentrate on other projects. He re-joined Asia when the original line up of Howe, keyboard player Geoff Downes, drummer Carl Palmer and vocalist John Wetton reconvened in 2006.

Speaking as recently as the summer of 2012, Howe previously stated that although Yes “didn’t need Anderson or Wakeman” to make it work, Asia needed “all of the original guys”.

Yes, meanwhile, are to embark on a US tour where they will play their ‘Close To The Edge’, ‘Going For The One’ and ‘The Yes Album’ in full. The line-up which recorded 2011’s excellent ‘Fly From Here‘ album has already dissolved.

Deep Purple’s ‘Slaves & Masters’ reissued with bonus tracks in February

Deep Purple’s 1990 release ‘Slaves & Masters’ is to be re-released on February 5th in a remastered and expanded form.

The only release by Deep Purple Mk V (featuring ex-Rainbow vocalist Joe Lynn Turner) remains one of the most overlooked titles in the legendary band’s catalogue, despite providing a US radio hit with ‘Love Conquers All’.

The new edition of the album includes two bonus cuts – the rarely heard B-side ‘Slow Down Sister’ and the 7″ edit of ‘Love Conquers All’.

Early 2013 is a good time for Purple fans. In addition to the re-release of ‘Slaves’, a remastered version of Ritchie Blackmore’s last performance with the band – ‘Paris 1975’ – is released a few days earlier on January 28th.

‘SLAVES & MASTERS: DELUXE EDITION’ tracklisting:

06. Love Conquers All
07. Fortuneteller
