Watch: Tooth Gore shares new video for ‘The Lighthouse’

Following a string of rather varied sounding digital singles – kicking off with ‘Spilled Milk’ in September 2024 – one man band Tooth Gore released his long awaited ‘For Losers…By Losers’ album in June 2025. It didn’t disappoint. Taking in elements of surf rock, noisy indie, melodic punk and a couple of other retro twists, the album showcased an artist will a brilliantly malleable talent.

As part of the album’s ongoing promotion, ‘The Lighthouse’ now joins Tooth Gore’s raft of digital singles, and it’s a solid representation of the TG sound. The track makes a feature of Kobi Joe’s surf tinged guitar sound with immediate effect, dropping sharp, reverbed chords against a strong backbeat influenced by early 60s sounds. A reverbed vocal gives away the tracks more contemporary setting, but in terms of retro sounding tunes, Tooth Gore hits upon a great melody, and this comes through even more strongly during the number’s rather simple instrumental break. Breaking up the surf influenced moments, a busy chorus delivers a world of distorted guitar work, ploughing through a punk oriented riff. In terms of push and pull, this battle between melody and aggression keeps things constantly interesting. Linking the two different styles, Kobi shares a semi melodic vocal approach, and the aforementioned reverb really boosts the track’s alternative qualities. With the help of a catchy hook, for those yet to hear the album, these three minutes provide an easy entry point into the Tooth Gore world.

When Real Gone reviewed ‘For Losers…’ our pre-release coverage didn’t actually include any thoughts on ‘The Lighthouse’ (we like to leave people some surprises for after they’ve bought new albums!), but you can read our thoughts here.
