Watch the new video from Yes

The twenty second studio album from Yes, ‘The Quest’ demonstrated how the ever evolving and legendary prog band were still capable of making great music.  With a delicate balance between soaring melodies and complex structures, the album harked back to classic Yes in many ways, but also showed how they refused to become stagnant.

‘A Living Island’ – the closing number from the album – captures the band at their most ethereal, driven by a soft, almost new age melody from vocalist Jon Davison,  augmented by one of Billy Sherwood’s warm basslines, different to a contribution that the sadly missed Chris Squire would have made, yet utterly respectful, and very much pivotal to the current band’s sound.

Although the track arguably works much better as part of ‘The Quest’s broader musical tapestry, it’s beauty and relative simplicity shows why it is a good choice for a digital single and further promotion.
