Sheffield-based riffmongers Awooga continue the promotion for their upcoming second release ‘Conduit’ with a new video.
The new clip compliments ‘Temporal’, the opening number from the new disc. In many ways, its dense sound and heavy riffs hark back to their previous EP, making it both the ideal opener for the album and a perfect introduction to the band for the unfamiliar.
Some good news for fans of Tom Waits, especially those in the US. The legendary singer-songwriter will have his first seven albums reissued on vinyl throughout 2018. Each title will be re-pressed on 180g vinyl.
For most people, Paul Hanley will be best known as the drummer with The Fall during their “two drummers period” between 1980 and 1985. He is currently a member of Brix and The Extricated, a band comprising several ex-Fall members. In the last quarter of 2017, Paul’s book ‘Leave The Capital’, in which he looks at the history of various recordings made in Manchester, was published by Route Publishing. In March 2018, Paul met with Lee from Real Gone to discuss ‘Leave The Capital’ and more besides.

Nevada’s 7Seconds – formed by brothers Kevin Seconds and Steve Youth – were an equally important component of the scene’s formation. Via albums like ‘The Crew’ (1984), ‘New Wind’ (1986) they influenced a generation of fledgling musicians. Whilst later albums took a more melodic route, the band never lost their knack for delivering a potent message.
This year’s Victorious Festival already looked like one of the year’s best events, boasting appearances by Paul Weller, Lightning Seeds, Bluetones and Billy Bragg.
It’s just got better, with confirmed appearances from both Dub Pistols and the legendary Brian Wilson. It’s not yet known whether Wilson will play a varied set or the whole of ‘Pet Sounds’ as he has at other recent shows, but his appearance at Victorious really adds something to an already impressive bill.
