Less than a year on from the release of the deluxe edition ‘Mellon Collie & The Infinite Sadness’ five disc expanded edition, The Smashing Pumpkins have revealed the tracklisting for another multi-disc reissue.
‘The Aeroplane Flies High’ was originally released in 1996 as a five disc set comprising the ‘Mellon Collie’ singles, various non-album b-sides and a few unreleased cover tunes. In keeping with the other Pumpkins reissues the new edition of ‘Aeroplane’ is a lavish set, expanded with a host of unreleased and rare material.
In addition to the material which filled the original release, fans are being treated to unreleased live material on CD and DVD as well as a selection of Billy Corgan’s largely instrumental “Gravity Demos”. Back in 1994, Corgan recorded some twenty nine demos at Gravity studios, all of which are well circulated among fans. Fifteen of those recordings are represented here. As yet, there is no word on if/when the remaining fourteen will appear.
The full specifications for the deluxe ‘Aeroplane Flies High’ set are listed below. At the time of writing the cost of the set is unknown, though it is likely to stretch into three figures, in keeping with 2012’s ‘Mellon Collie’ set.
