Foo Fighters kick off Australian tour in style

On Monday 28th November, Foo Fighters played the first night of their seven date Australian tour. During a three hour set in Perth, Dave Grohl and co played a huge chunk of current release ‘Wasting Light’ alongside other choice favourites from their back catalogue, as well as a handful of cover tunes.

PJ Harvey wins Uncut award

PJ Harvey has been awarded the Uncut Music Award for her album ‘Let England Shake’.

The album, released in February 2011, has been one of Harvey’s most critically acclaimed to date, already winning her 2011’s Mercury Music Prize earlier in the year.

To win the Uncut Music Award, Harvey beat off competition from Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and critics’ darlings Radiohead.

New Leaves’ Eyes EP released in December

Leaves’ Eyes, the German/Norwegian symphonic rock outfit formed by Liv Kristine following her departure from Theatre of Tragedy will release new material in December.

‘Melusine’ is a five track, digital only EP containing four previously unreleased tracks/mixes and follows the band’s ‘Meredead’ album released in April 2011.

‘Melusine’ is available digitally from December 16th and includes the following tracks:

02. To France (unreleased mix)
03. Tell-Tale Eyes (alternate version)

Machine Head, DevilDriver and Exodus confirmed for French metalfest

Machine Head, DevilDriver and Exodus are among the newest bands to be confirmed for Hellfest 2012.

The bands join an already line-up of confirmed acts for France’s biggest metal festival, an event which saw German legends Scorpions and Iggy & The Stooges headline in 2011.

Black Sabbath are set to headline in 2012.

Riot: More US tour dates announced

Hard rock legends Riot have announced three east coast dates as part of their US tour to promote new album ‘Immortal Soul’.

In January 2012, Riot can be seen at the following venues:
Jan. 18 – New York, NY @ BB King Blues Club & Grill
Jan. 19 – West Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
Jan. 20 – Rochester, NY @ Montage Music Hall

The band’s fourteenth studio record, ‘Immortal Soul’ was their first in five years, re-uniting what many fans believe to be the “classic” Riot line-up.
